RETAINING WALLS & WET SEASON STORM WATER RUNOFF

With the wet season fast approaching we've been busy with retaining walls and in particular a lot of interest around my water bund walls.

A bund wall is a small barrier wall that diverts water.

(I use this method extensively when constructing walking tracks for the QLD National Parks)

The bund wall is very good at slowing water, diverting water and providing a solid structure that water cannot undermine or wash away. Combining retaining walls with a bund wall can solve a lot of your problems.

The last few jobs we have completed have been to control the damaging effects of water coming from either neighbours properties or adjoining vacant land.

One recent client had to run a bilge pump under his house every wet season!! His problem was a result of massive amounts of storm water runoff entering his property from the neighbours hillslope block above him.

I created a solid stone wall construction, retaining walls combined with good drainage to solved his problems.

This was so effective I then went on to construct a bund wall for his neighbour, who was also suffering from water runoff from the same property.

So, with proper drainage and erosion systems in place you can to control the storm water runoff on your property and protect your home from flooding. A vital necessity for living hillside in the Cairns region.....
